Kingalow

This is our History...

Because everything has a story, this is the story of Kingalow...

A few years ago I first came to the area visiting the Hotel Maquenque Ecolodge, during my stay I was able to photograph in the Laguna del Lagarto Lodge and during that visit to the area I fell in love with its potential for bird photography mainly, that's why I kept visiting it as many times as I could for about 7 years, that's when the opportunity arose to acquire a land with a cabin in November 2021.

We acquired the property, but we ran out of resources to rebuild it, that is why my family and I took on the task of doing the remodeling ourselves. We started by taking measurements of the existing structure, which was designed for a small restaurant.

We began to think about what we could do with the resources we had and knowing that we ourselves were going to design and rebuild this structure to convert it initially into a place for family recreation and why not give other people the opportunity to enjoy the experience of living in the middle of the jungle.

For many years I have dedicated myself to photographing the wildlife of Costa Rica and I wanted this place to have special conditions for us photographers, but also to provide our family with all the necessary comforts to enjoy our free time.

After some lines and ideas in the air we started with a different concept, where we wanted all the wild things of the jungle but outside the room, inside we wanted all the comforts of the city, for a good rest and why not even some days to come and telework.

We designed things to be done in stages, Stage 1 being the remodeling of the central core, with an open concept to maximize family interaction, the view is something we loved about the area, so we gave it the utmost importance, leaving the front of the cabin with a sliding window of 4.40 meters, with mosquito nets to be able to interact with the heat of the area or if you want to regulate the temperature with air conditioning.

So Kigalow is just that, a fusion of the two worlds, on the outside a cabin in the area and on the inside a place with all the services that a wildlife photographer needs and also those that an average family requires.
